seems you know your stuff maybe you can help me out with this problem? if you have a 2 ohm sub and a 4 ohm amp it won't produce enough power to properly power the sub. the other advantage to the lc-2 is that there is a variable gain control on it so you can actually control the gain to the amp. methods i used will require an understanding of car/car stereo electrics so just be careful so as not to damage your car or yourself :).

i may not need to stop to take pictures of the process, but in addition to the rca outputs i also need to create and install a 12v-5v converter, a 7-port powered usb hub, headphone-radio transmitter, and other assorted goodies. does it mean for me to attach the cables together by the wires, and then plug it in?

i have installed a kit like you are talking about, it was 4 or 5 speaker wires that were spliced total.-subwoofer box-subwoofer speaker (see next step)-amplifier (see next step)-wiring kit (or each of the following) -10 gauge or thicker, 20 foot insulated wire (for power) -10 gauge or thicker, 3 foot insulated wire (for ground) -18 or 16 gauge, 15 foot wire -rca cables, 15 feet or longer (you need 2 or one with both red and white) -in-line fuse, 50 amps or higher-some speaker wire-4 small wood screws-basic toolsfor the power and ground wires, you will need thicker wires depending on how powerful the amplifier is. the gain all the way down, start playing music and turn it up to where you usually listen, where the mids sound good. option that would give the highest quality while using the stock head unit would be to use either the mtx re-q bass converter or the jl bass converter. have worked in the car audio business for a while and that lc-2 is such a slick way to do a factory integration.
